First Ever 80+ International

Netherlands vs England on 24th April 2019 in Breda

WGMA announces the first hockey international to be played by recognised national teams at 80+. Netherlands will play England in the Netherlands on 24th April 2019 at the BHV Push complex, Nieuwe Inslag 97, 4817 GN in Breda.

WGMA is proud to sanction this match which is further proof of the achievement of WGMA in encouraging the development of Grand Masters hockey. When WGMA was formed in 2002 60+ was the only age group contesting international honours. In the 17 years since then Grand Masters hockey has mushroomed to the extent that the Grand Masters Hockey World Cup in Barcelona in 2018 included national World Cup tournaments for 60+, 65+, 70+ and 75+. Now the World Cup tournament in Tokyo in 2020 may well include a section at 80+ - endorsing the WGMA slogan of 'lifelong hockey’.

The result of this first 80+ international will be posted as soon as possible after the game.
